Benny Andres is an Assistant Professor of History and Latin American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he teaches classes on Latino history, history of the American West, history of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, and history of U.S. immigration. Previously, Benny Andres taught United States History at Imperial Valley College, and was an Adjunct Instructor at the University of New Mexico.

Dr. Andres earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from San Diego State University. He then attended the University of New Mexico, where he earned a Master of Arts in History with an emphasis on the history of the United States. He remained at the University of New Mexico to earn a PhD (with distinction) in History.

Outside of his professional responsibilities at the University of North Carolina, Benny Andres enjoys a diverse range of activities, including weightlifting and reading. He also follows recent developments in college football.
